Annual manager allocations

Data collected by Pensions & Investments show that defined benefit plans have increased their allocations among alternative investments – private equity, real estate and hedge funds – since 2006, while keeping their allocations among traditional managers relatively stable

2015 data were complied from 88 plans responding to an annual survey conducted by P&I. The growth in alternative investments has been driven by allocations to private equity and, to a lesser extent, real estate, as the need for diversification among these asset classes requires multiple manager hires.
