Gavin Rochussen was named group executive, international at BT Investment Management, effective Oct. 3.
The position is new and based in London. Mr. Rochussen will report to Emilio Gonzalez, CEO of Sydney-based BTIM Group, said a news release provided by a spokesman Wednesday.
The release said Mr. Rochussen will lead BTIM's growth strategy outside of Australia, “with a focus on growing the (J O Hambro Capital Management) business in the U.S. and Asia, in particular identifying new investment teams.”
Mr. Rochussen currently serves as group CEO of active equity affiliate J O Hambro Capital Management. He will be replaced by Ken Lambden, also effective Oct. 3.
Commenting upon his new role, Mr. Rochussen said in the release: "The significant growth in the JOHCM business over recent years has led to a commensurate increase in operational demands upon my time. This move enables me to focus my attention on expanding the JOHCM business in the U.S. and Asia. In Ken we have found an excellent candidate to maintain the smooth running of our existing business."
Mr. Lambden left his previous post as chief investment officer of Baring Asset Management in May. Parent company Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. has since consolidated its money management affiliates — composed of Baring Asset Management, Babson Capital Management, Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers and Wood Creek Capital Management — under the Barings name. That firm now has three investment leaders, covering fixed income, equities and multiasset; real estate; and alternatives and private equity.
