Massachusetts Institute of Technology's endowment posted a 0.8% return for the fiscal year ended June 30, said a news release from MIT Investment Management Co., which manages and oversees the endowment for the school in Cambridge, Mass.
A report from MIT’s treasurer showed that the endowment was valued at $13.2 billion as of that date, down 2.2% from a year earlier.
The defined benefit pension plan had assets of $3.3 billion at the end of the fiscal year, down 1.4% from the end of fiscal year 2015.
MIT also offers a 401(k) plan to its employees, which had a market value of $3.9 billion as of fiscal year-end 2016, unchanged from the year before.
