Oklahoma City Employee Retirement System hired Wells Capital Management as an emerging markets equity manager, said recently released board meeting minutes.
An allocation size could not immediately be learned.
In April, the $638 pension fund put about $19.5 million in a State Street Global Advisors passive emerging markets equity strategy, following the termination of active emerging markets equity manager Vontobel Asset Management. It could not be learned by press time if the SSgA portfolio will fund the Wells Capital strategy.
Vontobel was terminated in March because of the departure of Rajiv Jain, chief investment officer of Vontobel's quality growth equities boutique.
The pension fund has a 5% emerging markets equity target.
