Cliff Speed was named chief investment officer of the £8.5 billion ($11.3 billion) The Pensions Trust, Leeds, England, said a spokeswoman for the pension fund.
Mr. Speed replaces David Adkins. Further details could not be learned by press time.
Mr. Speed will work with the pension fund’s investment committee and be responsible for driving investment strategy and leading the investment team. He will report to CEO Mike Ramsey.
Mr. Ramsey highlighted recent appointments of Emmanuel Bocquet as chief strategist and John Steel as operations manager, and said in a statement: “We now have a first-class investment team, which positions us well to realize our ambitious growth plans.”
Mr. Speed was a managing director in BlackRock’s outsourced CIO team, within the firm’s Europe, Middle East and Africa client solutions business. BlackRock declined to comment on a replacement.
