Weiwen Han was named managing director of Bain & Co.’s Greater China practice.
In that Shanghai-based role, Mr. Han replaces Michael Thorneman, who leaves that position after eight years to return to advising the firm’s private equity and corporate clients in China, a Hong Kong-based spokesman said.
Previously, Mr. Han served as a partner in Bain’s private equity practice, and a senior member of the firm’s digital, consumer products and retail practices.
A news release Tuesday said the shift for Messrs. Thorneman and Han reflect Bain’s “servant leader” model, which rotates partners between leadership roles and full-time client work.
Mr. Han will be responsible for leading the firm’s growth, operations, people and brand strategy in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
