Bruno Taillardat joined Amundi as head of smart beta, said a spokesman for the firm.
The role is new, and Mr. Taillardat is based in Paris. He reports to Laurent Trottier, global head of exchange-traded funds, indexing and smart beta management.
The appointment underlines the firm's commitment to its smart-beta strategies, said an Amundi news release. These strategies cover both factor investing and alternative weighting. The firm has $9 billion under management in smart-beta strategies in Europe.
Mr. Taillardat was executive director and investment director within the equities team at Unigestion. A spokeswoman said he will not be replaced directly. As part of the transition of Mr. Taillardat's responsibilities to the wider team, Gael Combes has taken over equity fundamental risk analysis as head of fundamental research. Mr. Combes was senior vice president and fundamental risk analyst.
