The University of Iowa endowment fund's investments returned 0.1% net of fees in the fiscal year ended June 30, outperforming its -0.2% benchmark return, said a performance report from the Iowa City-based school.
The endowment's market value was $365.9 million at the end of the fiscal year.
The endowment fund returned 1.4% for three months ended June 30 net of fees and 2.4% for six months, both underperforming the respective benchmark returns of 1.7% and 2.8%.
The fund returned an annualized 1.3% for two years (1% benchmark return), 6.1% for three years (5.7%), 7.4% for four years (7.4%), 6% for five years (6.1%), 8.8% for seven years (8.9%) and 4.6% for 10 years (5.2%).
By contrast, the University of Iowa Foundation, which oversees a $898 million fund separately from the university endowment, lost 1.8% net of fees for the fiscal year ended June 30, according to its performance report released Aug. 24 by the Iowa City-based foundation. The foundation declined to provide a benchmark return.
