The $3 billion San Jose (Calif.) City Police & Fire Department Retirement Plan hired BlackRock to manage $43 million in a global long government core bond commingled fund, and the $1.9 billion San Jose Federated City Employees Retirement System hired BlackRock to manage $32 million in the same fund, show quarterly investment reviews for the plans.
The two plans also invested $20 million each in an emerging markets macro hedge fund run by Pharo Management and $10 million each in AHL Evolution Frontier, a commodity trading adviser hedge fund run by Man Group.
Funding came from cash.
An official for the pension funds referred questions to the plans’ investment documents.
