Chistopher Tackney joined emerging markets specialist Gramercy Funds Management as managing director and co-head of trading.
Mr. Tackney will oversee the firm’s trading operations, which include performing and distressed corporate securities, sovereigns, equities, credit default swaps and currency hedges with Gramercy’s other trading co-head, Matthew Maloney, managing director. Mr. Tackney will have particular responsibility for relationship building with Wall Street firms to enable trade execution, asset sourcing and new issue allocations, a Gramercy news release said.
John Stavinga, a spokesman for Gramercy, declined to say whether Mr. Tackney’s job is new.
“Gramercy has been evolving and expanding the responsibilities of the trading desk in an effort to stay ahead of the ever-changing complexities of global markets,” said Robert Koenigsberger, managing partner and chief investment officer, to whom Messrs. Tackney and Maloney report, in the release.
Mr. Tackney was managing director and head of trading at Greylock Capital Management, an emerging markets-focused hedge fund firm. A Greylock spokeswoman declined to comment on Mr. Tackney’s departure or successor.
Gramercy manages $5.7 billion in hedge funds and long-only strategies.
