Naohiko Tabei joined Vontobel Asset Management in Hong Kong as executive director, institutional clients and consultant relations, focused on growing the firm's client base in Japan.
It is a new position. Mr. Tabei will focus on banks and insurance companies in addition to the pension fund business the firm has been building since 2011, said a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for the firm.
Mr. Tabei comes to Vontobel from PineBridge Investments, where he served as a senior vice president, head of institutional business, Japan.
A spokeswoman for PineBridge couldn't immediately say if that position had been filled.
