Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, committed a total of $912 million to five private investment funds in July.
In private equity, the $128.2 billion pension fund committed €444 million ($492 million) to Permira VI which will seek mid- to large-cap buyouts in leading companies with strong growth potential in developed European countries.
Red River Venture Capital Fund II was awarded a $200 million commitment for investment in U.S. venture capital opportunities. The fund is managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.
TRS also committed $100 million each to Square Mile Capital Management's Square Mile Partners V and its companion fund, Square Mile Partners V-A, showed a transaction report provided to Pensions & Investments by the pension fund. The funds will focus on finding deals in the U.S. such as providing growth assets to real estate operating platforms, capitalizing bankruptcies and buying excess corporate real estate.
Also, the pension fund committed $20 million to Admiral Capital Real Estate Fund II, managed by Admiral Capital Group, for acquisition of office, retail, mixed-use urban, hotels and multifamily properties in the U.S.
