BlackRock Inc. has launched an iPad and iPhone app for institutional investors that collects its market insights and thought leadership articles called BlackRock Insights.
The app was created to give institutional clients a better, more easily navigated interface through which they can access the wealth of articles the money manager publishes, said Edwin Conway, managing director and head of BlackRock's institutional client business for the U.S. and Canada.
“Really it was born from our discussions with the institutional client base,” Mr. Conway said. “They ... voiced great frustration with the fact that there's a voluminous amount” of material BlackRock produces.
“It's difficult for them to decipher and decide what's most relevant and pertinent to their situations,” he said.
Split into categories for markets, investment actions, portfolio design, risk management and regulatory-related articles, BlackRock Insights attempts to make the numerous publications easier to navigate.
“It's very intuitive,” Mr. Conway said. “We created categories that are really top of mind,” he added.
The app will be updated as new articles are published, and Mr. Conway said the hope is to use client feedback to enable the app to be further customized according to the specific needs of users.
The app is available from the App Store on iTunes; BlackRock also links to it from its website.
