Matt Baldassano was named managing director, head of global securities finance, at Cowen Group, said a news release on Cowen's website.
The position is new. Mr. Baldassano will lead Cowen's new securities finance business, which was announced on Monday.
Mr. Baldassano will report to Daniel Charney, head of equities.
Mr. Baldassano was managing director, co-head of global prime services and head of global securities finance at Jefferies & Co. Jefferies spokesman Richard Khaleel said the company would not comment.
