Erin Leonard was named executive director of the $22 billion Minnesota State Retirement System, St. Paul.
She replaces David Bergstrom, who is retiring Dec. 31 after 24 years as executive director. Ms. Leonard will work with Mr. Bergstrom to transition into her new post, according to a statement on the system’s website.
Ms. Leonard was assistant executive director in charge of the system’s retirement services division. Mr. Bergstrom said the system will conduct a search for her replacement.
The retirement system administers five defined benefit plans — Minnesota State Employees Retirement Fund, State Patrol Retirement Fund, Correctional Employees Retirement Fund, Judges Retirement Fund and Legislators Retirement Fund — as well as the Minnesota Deferred Compensation Plan, a $5.8 billion 457 plan.
The $80 billion Minnesota State Board of Investment, St. Paul, oversees investment management of all MSRS plans.
