South Carolina Retirement System Investment Commission hired executive search firm Korn Ferry to assist with its search for a chief investment officer, said a spokesman in an e-mail.
An RFP was issued in March for an executive search firm.
Hershel Harper Jr. resigned as CIO last September. Geoffrey Berg, an internal managing director and head of public markets, has been acting CIO. A hiring decision on a permanent CIO is expected in September.
The RSIC oversees investment for the South Carolina Public Employee Benefit Authority, which oversees the $28.2 billion South Carolina Retirement Systems, Columbia.
