Ron Bloom has joined Brookfield Asset Management as vice chairman and a managing partner in its private equity business, said Suzanne Fleming, spokeswoman.
It is a new position.
Mr. Bloom was a vice chairman of U.S. investment banking in the financial advisory business of Lazard. Before joining Lazard, Mr. Bloom was assistant to President Barack Obama for manufacturing policy.
Judi Frost Mackey, a Lazard spokeswoman, declined comment.
Brookfield has $20 billion in private equity assets under management.
