Tatsuo Mizutori was named head of New York Life Investment Management’s newly opened Tokyo office, the company announced.
New York Life Investment Management Asia Ltd. is currently seeking the business registrations and licenses needed to allow the firm to work with institutional clients in Japan, said a news release.
Mr. Mizutori comes to NYLIM from Nomura Asset Management, where he served as chief portfolio manager of the company's advisory fund management department, focused on institutional clients, the news release said, adding that his prior experience included stints leading Mercer's investment consulting business in Japan and leading Mercer Global Investments as well.
A Nomura Asset Management spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
NYLIM had $285 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
