Herman Bril joined the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund, New York, as director of the investment management division, said Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the secretary-general.
Mr. Bril, who started two weeks ago, replaced Suzanne Bishopric, who retired March 31, 2015.
Mr. Bril reports to Carolyn Boykin, representative of the secretary-general for the investment of the assets of the UNJSPF. The defined benefit fund has $53 billion of assets.
The director of investments acts as an adviser to the representative of the secretary-general on all matters relating to the investment of assets. He oversees day-to-day management of global assets – most of which are managed in-house, said a job listing dated Feb. 18. The director also oversees operations, information technology, procurement, risk and compliance.
Mr. Bril most recently was group chief financial officer and managing director at Cardano. Spokeswomen could not be reached for comment by press time.
