Tjalling Halbertsma was appointed managing director at Eaton Vance Management International, a spokesman said.
Mr. Halbertsma, who will start Sept. 19, will oversee global business development across Europe, the Middle East, Africa; Asia including Japan; Latin America; and Australia. He will be responsible for managing sales, client services and marketing activities, overseeing existing and new business development. Whether the position is new could not be learned by press time.
Mr. Halbertsma will report to Matt Witkos, president, Eaton Vance Distributors, a subsidiary of Eaton Vance. He will work with the London-based investment teams on strategic planning and product development.
Mr. Halbertsma “is a polished and professional distribution leader with a proven record of successfully leading business development teams globally,” Mr. Witkos said in a news release. “He is highly motivated, focused on client relationships and knowledgeable about how best to represent our investment management capabilities.”
Mr. Halberstma was head of EMEA at Nuveen Investments in London. A spokeswoman for Nuveen said the firm had no comment on any replacement.
