Santa Barbara County (Calif.) Employees’ Retirement System hired RBC Global Asset Management to run $90 million in active emerging markets equities, said Lauren Thompson, retirement investment analyst, in an e-mail.
The $2.4 billion pension fund issued an RFP in March for a manager to replace Vontobel Asset Management, which was terminated due to the then-impending departure of Rajiv Jain, Vontobel’s co-CEO and chief investment officer.
The other finalist was William Blair.
The pension fund’s new consultant RVK assisted in the hiring of the manager; previous investment consultant Meketa Investment Group assisted in the RFP in March.
