Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, committed a total of $900 million to five alternative investment strategies in June, a transaction report for the $128.2 billion pension fund showed.
In real estate, $200 million was committed to Oaktree Real Estate Opportunities Fund VII, a U.S.-focused fund managed by Oaktree Capital Management.
Two real estate limited partnership funds received $300 million in commitments —$200 million to GMTG Investor, a U.S. real estate fund managed by Almanac Realty Investors, and $100 million to Westbrook Partners for investment in F55 Opportunity Longhorn Fund, which will focus on U.S. opportunistic opportunities.
The pension fund also committed $200 million each to private equity funds GSO Capital Opportunities Fund III, managed by GSO Capital Partners for investment in U.S. credit and special situations opportunities, and Carlyle Star Co-Investment Fund, managed by Carlyle Group and slated for investment in a U.S. large buyout deal, the transaction report said.
