Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System, Oklahoma City, hired Wellington Management to run about $47 million in domestic small-cap growth equity, said Ginger Sigler, executive director, in an e-mail.
Wellington will replace Columbus Circle Investors, which ran the same amount in a similar strategy and is being terminated because of ownership changes at the firm, Ms. Sigler wrote. She declined to comment further.
A Columbus Circle official declined to comment.
An RFP for domestic small-cap growth equity managers was issued in March.
The $877 million pension fund has a 10% domestic small-cap equity target.
Separately, the pension fund board will hear emerging markets equity finalist presentations from Harding Loevner, William Blair and Wells Fargo Asset Management at its July 21 meeting. An RFP for one or more managers to potentially replace emerging markets equity manager Vontobel Asset Management was issued in March because of personnel changes at Vontobel. The pension fund had $25.9 million invested with Vontobel as of Feb 29.
A hiring decision could be made July 21 or later. The allocation size is expected to be between $20 million and $30 million total.
The pension fund has a 5% emerging markets equity target.
