Alain Carrier, managing director and head of Europe with the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, was promoted to senior managing director and head of international, the C$278.9 billion ($218.2 billion) Toronto-based pension fund announced Wednesday.
London-based Mr. Carrier replaces Mark Machin in that head of international role. Mr. Machin, who also held the title of CPPIB's president, Asia-Pacific, was named president and CEO of the pension fund, effective June 13, after Mark Wiseman relinquished those titles to join BlackRock.
Mr. Carrier will retain his role as head of Europe, a CPPIB news release said.
Suyi Kim, CPPIB's Hong Kong-based head of private equity, Asia, has been named managing director, head of Asia.
Deborah Orida, a managing director, head of relationship investments international, has been named head of private equity, Asia.
Mei Mavin, a London-based spokeswoman for CPPIB, couldn't be reached immediately for further comment.
