UBS O’Connor hired seven portfolio managers as part of an expansion of the investment capabilities of the multistrategy hedge fund shop.
All are new positions, and the hirings have taken place since April, said Gregg Rosenberg, a UBS spokesman.
New York-based Erin Browne was named managing director and global macro portfolio manager; Ms. Browne previously was a portfolio manager at Point72 Asset Management.
Also based in New York are Andrew Hamerling and James Moynihan, both directors and portfolio managers of a telecommunications, media and technology strategy. Messrs. Hamerling and Moynihan worked together at Wavelength Asset Management, which has closed. Mr. Hamerling was founder, managing partner and portfolio manager, and Mr. Moynihan was a managing director.
Ryan Stephens joined UBS O’Connor’s Chicago office as director and portfolio manager covering the financial sector. He was a portfolio manager at Surveyor Capital.
In London, Anthony Burton and Philip Pearson were hired as executive directors and portfolio managers who will co-manage a telecommunications, media and technology equity strategy, Mr. Rosenberg said. Messrs. Burton and Pearson were partners and portfolio managers of a similar strategy at Man Group’s GLG Partners unit.
Also based in London, Paul Findley is a director and portfolio manager at UBS O’Connor, focused on European long/short equity investment. Mr. Findley was founder and CEO of Bramshott Capital, which has closed.
UBS O’Connor managed $5.6 billion as of March 31.
