Alan Higham joined the £49 billion ($69.8 billion) Universities Superannuation Scheme, London, as chief pensions strategy and engagement officer, said a spokeswoman for the fund.
Mr. Higham replaces Brendan Mulkern, who was chief policy and external affairs officer and left earlier this year. Further details could not be learned by press time.
Mr. Higham most recently founded independent advice service PensionsChamp, which focused on helping to create transparency around the defined contribution market. In a note on the PensionsChamp website, Mr. Higham said he has been working as a part-time consultant for USS since February, and had been asked to take on the role. “My motivation in creating the PensionsChamp website has always been to help people make good financial decisions so they can enjoy a well-earned retirement. However, my professional circumstances have recently changed, and after careful consideration I have decided to take the website down.”
