Eugene Dimitriou joined Columbia Threadneedle Investments as head of insurance solutions, said a spokeswoman for the firm.
The role is new; Mr. Dimitriou is based in London.
Mr. Dimitriou structures investment solutions for insurance clients, covering strategic asset allocation, capital optimization of insurance clients’ balance sheets for European rules under Solvency II, and risk mitigation strategies.
The manager’s dedicated, client-facing global insurance team now has 10 professionals.
Mr. Dimitriou reports to Andrew Nicoll, global head of insurance at Columbia Threadneedle Investments.
“(Mr. Dimitriou) has a wealth of experience in delivering investment solutions to insurance clients which optimize portfolios from a capital management perspective,” said Mr. Nicoll in a news release. “Insurance companies are increasingly forced to fully integrate capital management considerations into their investment decision-making and (his) appointment further enhances Columbia Threadneedle’s solutions capabilities for our clients.”
Columbia Threadneedle Investments has £323 billion ($472.1 billion) of assets under management.
Mr. Dimitriou was a senior vice president for insurance clients in Europe at Pacific Investment Management Co., said the release. A spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.
