Paul Cavazos was named senior vice president and chief investment officer at American Beacon Advisors, spokesman Stephen Graddy said.
He replaces Wyatt L. Crumpler, who left the firm in 2015 to join NEPC as a principal and senior consultant.
Effective June 20, Mr. Cavazos will be responsible for overseeing corporate pension plan investments in its manager-of-managers business and the investment subadvisers to the American Beacon Funds. He will report to Gene L. Needles Jr., chairman, president and CEO.
Mr. Cavazos was CIO and assistant treasurer at DTE Energy Co. overseeing $6.1 billion in retirement assets. The company plans to conduct a search for his replacement, said DTE spokeswoman Stephanie Beres.
American Beacon Advisors had $51.4 billion in assets under management as of March 31.
