Alexander D. Ryer was named director of investments at RhumbLine Advisers, spokeswoman Melissa Martocchio said.
The position is new.
Mr. Ryer will work to increase the firm’s investment capabilities in smart beta, factor modeling, international investing and fixed income. He will also help the firm expand its range of investment strategy offerings. Mr. Ryer will report to Norman H. Meltz, chief investment officer.
Mr. Ryer was a senior quantitative research analyst at Blackrock. It could not be learned if he was replaced; BlackRock spokesman Ed Sweeney could not be immediately reached for comment by press time.
RhumbLine managed more than $33 billion in assets as of March 31.
