Takeshi Fukushima was named managing director and chief investment officer of BlackRock Japan, a Hong Kong-based spokeswoman said Monday.
Mr. Fukushima replaces Shinichi Kawano, who is leaving BlackRock to pursue other interests, said the spokeswoman in an e-mail. Mr. Kawano will stay on through Aug. 31 to ensure a smooth transition, she said.
Mr. Fukushima will be “responsible for creating and communicating value-added, asset class-agnostic market and investment insights on Japan, as well as conveying BlackRock’s global investment themes, to clients and investors,” said a BlackRock news release.
Mr. Fukushima comes to BlackRock from GI Capital Management, a Tokyo-based third-party marketing firm, where he served as CIO of GI Capital’s investment advisory group, focused on global alternative products for pension fund clients, the release said.
A spokesman for GI Capital couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
