Christina L. Alfandary was named managing director, ESG & sustainable investments, at GAMCO Investors, said Christopher Desmarais, managing director.
The position is new. Ms. Alfandary will further expand the firm’s ESG capabilities and sustainable investing initiatives. She will report to Mario J. Gabelli, chairman and CEO of GAMCO Investors.
Ms. Alfandary was co-head of the Americas and senior managing director for Nikko Asset Management Americas. She left the firm last year and was replaced by Fred DeSerio, head of sales in the U.S., as Pensions & Investments previously reported.
Ms. Alfandary worked at GAMCO before joining Nikko AM Americas.
GAMCO had $38.7 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
