Michigan State University, East Lansing, is searching for a director of investments for its $2.3 billion endowment.
The position is new, part of the expansion of MSU’s investment team that began in December with Philip Zecher’s appointment as the university’s first chief investment officer.
Mr. Zecher said in an e-mail he’s taking “a generalist approach to structuring the investment team and looking for people with broad industry experience and a diversity of views.”
The successful candidate for the director of investments position could come from “either side of the table, either allocator or manager,” Mr. Zecher added, noting that “while there are no immediate plans for large scale changes to the existing portfolio, this is still more of a greenfield opportunity as (the investment) office charts its own course forward.”
MSU hired Charles Skorina & Co. to conduct the search.
