Michael Ganske was named head of emerging markets fixed income at AXA Investment Managers, said a spokeswoman.
Mr. Ganske joins in May, and will replace Damien Buchet, who left last year to join Finisterre Capital, according to the Financial Services Register.
Mr. Ganske will report to Chris Iggo, chief investment officer, fixed income, and will be based in London. He will lead a global team of 10 based across London, Paris and Hong Kong. The team manages about €5 billion ($5.6 billion) in emerging markets and Asian debt across three strategies and a number of institutional separate accounts.
The appointment follows a move last June by AXA to create a global emerging markets fixed-income team.
Mr. Ganske was previously a partner and head of emerging markets at Rogge Global Partners. An executive at Rogge could not be reached for comment by press time.
Matthew Chaldecott, partner, product specialist, global distribution, confirmed that Mr. Ganske will be leaving and will not be replaced because the planned acquisition by Allianz Global Investors will bring with it significantly enhanced resources in emerging markets.
AXA IM has about €669 billion in assets under management.
