Peter Hecht joined AQR Capital Management as managing director and co-head of the alternative investment management firm's U.S. portfolio solutions group.
Mr. Hecht joined AQR in the new role Tuesday, and will work primarily from the firm's Chicago office, said Jane Dean, a company spokeswoman, in an e-mail.
He will work with Daniel Villalon, also a managing director and the portfolio solutions unit's other co-head, to provide U.S. institutional investors with research, education and portfolio construction advice.
Mr. Hecht was managing director and senior investment strategist at hedge funds-of-funds manager Evanston Capital Management.
Adam Blitz, Evanston Capital's CEO and chief investment officer, said in an interview that the firm might not replace Mr. Hecht immediately because of the wide scope of his duties.
