Virginia Retirement System, Richmond, committed $625 million in the first quarter of 2016, investment officials announced at a board meeting Thursday.
The $64.4 billion pension fund committed $75 million to Lime Rock Resources IV, an energy fund managed by Lime Rock Partners. In real assets, $200 million was committed to TCW Specialty Lending Fund, managed by TCW Group.
In private equity, VRS committed $200 million to Leonard Green Equity Investors VII, a buyout fund managed by Leonard Green & Partners that is expected to make 15 to 20 investments ranging from $250 million to $750 million per transaction; and $150 million to Vista Equity Partners Fund VI, a buyout fund that will invest in U.S. midcap software and technology businesses.
