Richard Gill was named head of BNY Mellon's markets group in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, a spokesman said.
The position is new and is designed to provide BNY Mellon markets with more regional autonomy, the spokesman added in an e-mail. The markets group helps BNY Mellon's clients to access capital, financing and liquidity, and provides services including foreign exchange, securities finance, collateral management and prime brokerage.
Mr. Gill will report to Michelle Neal, president of BNY Mellon markets group. He will lead the regional business strategy for EMEA, and will have overall responsibility for managing the division.
Regionally, Mr. Gill will report to Michael Cole-Fontayn, executive vice president and chairman of EMEA at BNY Mellon. Mr. Gill will also serve as a member of the markets executive management team, the markets risk committee and the EMEA chairman's forum.
“(Mr. Gill's) appointment allows us to better balance global and regional considerations in managing our businesses,” Ms. Neal said in a news release Monday.
Mr. Gill was previously global co-head of foreign-exchange trading at BNY Mellon. The spokesman said his replacement has not yet been disclosed.
