Richard Linton Jr. was named executive vice president for operations at Empower Retirement.
The position is new, said Steve Gawlik, an Empower spokesman, in an e-mail. “This appointment reflects Empower's move to create an integrated operations organization following the merger of Great-West Financial, Putnam Investments and J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services in late 2014,” he added.
Mr. Linton, who will join Empower April 25, will be in charge of record keeping and plan administration operations, according to an Empower news release Monday. He will be responsible for participant and plan call centers, compliance, conversion and implementation services, client service and financial controls, the release said.
Mr. Linton “has vast experience in operations, proven management and leadership skills and a wealth of knowledge about what clients and participants need,” Edmund F. Murphy III, Empower's president, said in the release.
Mr. Linton, who will report to Mr. Murphy, had been president of large corporate markets and retail wealth management for Voya Financial, according to the Empower release. William Sutton, a Voya spokesman, declined to comment.
