Pierre-Emmanuel Juillard was appointed managing director of a new investment team, focused on liquid absolute-return strategies, at AXA Investment Managers, said a spokeswoman.
Mr. Juillard will be based in Hong Kong and will lead an initial team of about 10 “from diverse backgrounds comprising both internal and external talents,” she said. The spokeswoman added that it will take time to build the team, and said AXA IM cannot disclose any further details at this point.
The firm aims to launch the new activity in the second half of the year through a dedicated money management subsidiary in Hong Kong. The plans are subject to regulatory approval.
Mr. Juillard joins from Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong, where he was partner and head of structuring in the securities division in Asia-Pacific, said the release.
