Matt Wilmington joined Legal & General as a director in its pension risk transfer group, said a spokesman.
The position is new.
Mr. Wilmington leads on strategic longevity, buy-in and buyout transactions for the business, and focuses in particular on large multinational client relationships.
He was previously a partner at consultant Aon Hewitt, where he focused on pension fund risk management and risk settlement. He advised on risk transfer deals including Cheshire, England-based AstraZeneca Pension Fund Trust’s £2.5 billion ($3.6 billion) longevity swap with Deutsche Bank in 2013.
A spokesman for Aon Hewitt confirmed the departure. He said Mr. Wilmington will not be directly replaced, but that Aon Hewitt has been adding to the team, including the February appointment of Michael Walker as a principal consultant in its risk settlement group. Mr. Walker rejoined the firm from Legal & General’s pension risk transfer business.
