Dave Nelsen was named CEO of the $6.5 billion Alameda County Employees’ Retirement Association, Oakland, Calif., a news release said.
He replaces Vincent Brown, who left in February 2015 after California Treasurer John Chiang appointed Mr. Brown as the state’s deputy state treasurer for administration and fiscal policy.
Kathy Foster, the pension fund’s assistant CEO, has been serving as interim CEO since Mr. Brown’s departure.
Mr. Nelsen is currently assistant director for customer and policy services at the $89.4 billion Washington State Department of Retirement Systems, where he oversees legal and legislative activities and direct customer service.
Pension fund spokesman Mike Fara did not return a phone call by press time.
