John Koudounis was named CEO of Calamos Investments, replacing firm founder John P. Calamos Sr., who will retain his chairman and global chief investment officer titles, said Jeff Kelley, senior vice president and head of marketing.
Mr. Koudounis, who takes over April 4, will lead the firm’s business activities, including executing a growth strategy to expand the firm’s global footprint, a news release said.
Mr. Calamos will focus on investment functions.
Mr. Koudounis was most recently president and CEO of Mizuho Securities USA, a subsidiary of Mizuho Financial Group.
“As founder of Calamos Investments, few things are as important to me as ensuring that we have the right executive team in place to successfully lead the firm in the years to come,” Mr. Calamos said in the release. “In appointing John Koudounis as CEO, we’re adding an executive with tremendous integrity, valuable global financial services experience, and a successful track record of leadership and corporate growth. As part of Calamos Investments’ evolution, he is the right leader joining us at the right time. While I will continue to be active in the business, John Koudounis’ appointment as CEO will allow me to spend more time on my investment responsibilities as global CIO.”
Mr. Kelley said Mr. Calamos was not available for an interview.
