Conning appointed two professionals from J.P. Morgan Asset Management to join its new investment solutions business, said spokeswoman Katrin Lieberwirth.
Sean Kurian was named as head of structuring and derivatives portfolio management at Conning, and Hamdan Malik was named a liability-driven investment strategist. Both positions are new. They will focus on LDI strategies for pension plans and insurers.
They will report to Owais Rana, a managing director and head of investment solutions at Conning.
Mr. Kurian was an executive director, asset management-global pensions solutions, at J.P. Morgan, while Mr. Malik was an associate, institutional solutions and advisory at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. J.P. Morgan spokesman Matthew Chisum declined to comment on whether they were replaced.
Conning had $89 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
