Neil Hasson joined Investcorp as a managing director to lead its expansion into European real estate investments, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Hasson will be responsible for developing the real estate investment business in Europe, focusing initially on core-plus opportunities in residential and commercial real estate in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. He is based in London and reports to Jonathan Dracos, New York-based head of real estate investment.
“Diversification into the European real estate market is a key element of Investcorp’s strategy,” said Mohammed Al Ardhi, executive chairman, in a news release. He added that the move into European real estate “is the next logical strategic step for the firm,” which already has a U.S. real estate business.
Mr. Hasson was previously a senior managing director at Macquarie Group, responsible for its European real estate lending business, the news release said. A spokesman could not be reached for comment on a replacement by press time.
Investcorp has $10.7 billion in assets under management.
