Edward Coyne was named executive vice president and national sales manager at Sprott Asset Management USA, he said.
The position is new.
Mr. Coyne will lead the firm's U.S. sales efforts and focus on building relationships across both the institutional and adviser channels. He will be based in Sprott USA's newly opened New York office and will report to James Fox, president of Sprott Asset Management, and John Wilson, Sprott Asset Management CEO and co-chief investment officer.
Mr. Coyne was a principal and investment specialist at Royce & Associates. It could not be learned by press time if he was replaced; Royce spokeswoman Kristen Swenson could not be immediately reached for comment.
Sprott Asset Management is a Toronto-based manager with C$8.5 billion ($6.2 billion) in assets under management as of Jan. 15.
