After being formed in late 2006 by the merger of the Peninsula Community Foundation and Community Foundation Silicon Valley, the Silicon Valley Community Foundation has quickly become one of the largest foundations in the United States. Total assets at year-end 2014, which is the latest fiscal year, have risen to $6.5 billion from $1.8 billion in 2010.
