British Columbia’s provincial government is seeking a venture capital fund-of-funds manager to run a new C$100 million ($75 million) technology fund being created by the province.
The selected firm would also manage the existing C$90 million fund of funds BC Renaissance Capital Fund as well as the new fund of funds, the BC Tech Fund, according to the RFP. The current manager of the Renaissance fund could not be learned by press time.
BC Tech Fund will focus on technology ventures created in British Columbia.
The selected firm will be required to have an existing office in British Columbia or will open one there.
British Columbia Premier Christy Clark announced the creation of the tech fund on Tuesday.The RFP is on the province’s procurement website, BCBids.
Proposals are due at 2 p.m. PST Jan. 29. No selection date was set, but Ms. Clark said the new fund would be operational in 2016.
