Asset growth in November was unable to offset increased liabilities for the defined benefit funds covered by the Pension Protection Fund's 7800 index, with the total deficit increasing 2% to £249.4 billion ($374.9 billion.)
Year-to-date through November, the total deficit increased 12.8%.
Total liabilities were £1.503 trillion, up 1.1% for the month, and up 3.4% from November 2014. Total assets increased 0.9% for the month to £1.254 trillion and increased 1.7% for the year.
The FTSE All-Share index grew 0.2% over the month ended Nov. 30, and fell 2.8% over the 12-month period.
The funded status fell slightly in November to 83.4% from 83.6% the previous month; it was 84.8% as of Nov. 30, 2014.
The PPF index covers 5,945 pension funds. It previously covered 6,057 pension funds, but has moved to an updated dataset. Of those funds, 80% had deficits, up slightly from 79.9% in October; and up from 80.4% as of Nov. 30, 2014.
