Jim Christensen was named managing director, global multiasset, at QIC, the Brisbane, Australia-based money manager announced Tuesday.
Mr. Christensen will start Jan. 11 and will report to CEO Damien Frawley.
Mr. Christensen was chief investment officer at the A$17 billion ($12.1 billion) Telstra Super. A spokeswoman for the Melbourne, Australia-based superannuation fund said a search for Mr. Christensen’s replacement is underway. Information on an interim replacement could come soon, she added.
Before Telstra, Mr. Christensen was managing director of QIC’s active management division.
“Mr. Christensen’s appointment has been part of a planned succession process that sees (CIO) Adriaan Ryder primarily focus on strategic level investment advice and relationships with the Queensland government, and investment opportunities and relationships across the global sovereign wealth fund and public fund community,” QIC said in a news release.
A spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for additional information.
As of Sept. 30, QIC had A$74.6 billion in assets under management.
