Richard M. Charlton, founder and chairman of NEPC, will retire, he said in an interview.
Effective Jan. 1, he will become chairman emeritus. He will not be replaced in his current role. Michael P. Manning, managing partner at NEPC, will continue to run the company.
“There will be virtually no change in the operating structure of the firm” said Mr. Charlton. “The process has been well codified.”
Mr. Charlton formed NEPC in 1986 under the name New England Pension Consultants.
NEPC had nearly $927 billion in assets under advisement as of June 30.
