University of Iowa Foundation returned 2.1% on its investments for the fiscal year ended June 30, said a performance summary report from the Iowa City-based foundation.
The report did not provide a benchmark comparison return.
The foundation oversees $1.2 billion in total assets, made up of the $887.2 million University of Iowa Foundation endowment pool and the $386 million University of Iowa endowment pool. The report does not specify which set of assets makes up the performance.
Breaking out the UIF endowment pool's performance by asset class for the fiscal year, diversifying strategies, which includes hedge funds and managed futures strategies, returned 6.9%; global equities — made up of public equities, hedged equity strategies and private equity — returned 4.3%; global fixed income, -0.9%; and real assets, which includes real estate, master limited partnerships and long-only commodity futures, -3.6%.
The UIF endowment pool's asset allocation was 40% global equity and 20% each in fixed income, real assets and diversifying strategies.
